CW: linux distros@anarceus I use chimera on my laptop and gentoo on my desktop. Nothing they can do about the linux kernel being slop, but they're both anti LLM otherwise.
CW: linux distros@walnut Nothing in the world will ever make me touch gentoo.
this is for a PC that's just gonna host minecraft servers so I need something that doesn't need to be updated weekly and will run reliably. Which debian no longer fulfills because this install didn't last long at all
CW: linux distros@anarceus I thought the same but it was the best option for my case, and I've been pretty impressed with gentoo's updates. After the initial install updates are generally pretty small so long as you keep up, and the tools to manage updates to configs are nicer than on debian or arch. The binary repos have a fair chunk of the packages too unless you start going too hard on the USE flags.
But chimera's a binary distro and much faster to install. As a bonus, it's pretty gay.
CW: linux distros@walnut Still not what I need at all, specifically because I need to "keep up". Again, this is a PC in my shelf that runs minecraft servers and doesn't do anything else. I'm not putting gentoo on that.
I also don't care how gay a distro is. I need it to not require updates frequently at all, and to not randomly shit itself like our friend debian.
