Sometimes people are like Cat do you know about fraudsters in social psychology. Friends there is no way you are more angry about these than I am. No way. I wasted two very precious years of my life trying to replicate what turned out to be a fraudulent line of research in grad school. I have never forgotten the betrayal of that and I never will.

I can love the good parts of psychology and criticize the bad parts just fine.

every time somebody in tech thinks that all of psych is represented by the one airport book famous guy they've heard of, though, a little piece of me dies and I very much ruminate over whether I'll be able to accomplish things in this industry

so if you cringe about a tech guy who doesn't represent you, in this way, perhaps, we understand each other :)

I actually have a bit of a collection of old psychology artifacts going just to always remind myself how much things change and how much change is possible within fields. I never forget that I work in a field that wouldn't have seen me and my loved ones as fully human in our identities, and still fails many.

A likely silly question @grimalkina
I don't know enough to know, is this this journal an example of bad psychology or the start of trying to actually support gay and lesbian people (very flawed support no doubt, but an honest effort)?

@walnut oh how could you know without reading it! To me at least this is an example of the people working toward the good and change :). Obviously very dated content given its year but clearly working against the parts of psych as a field that wanted to oppress queer people
