anyone in Germany or at least the EU know where to buy spikes you can put in clothes and collars?

I don't think I can justify the usage of the lathe at work to make tens of spikes of stainless steel even if I buy my own material 💀

I asked around last pride parade but everyone who had them was like 16 and broke so they only had shein or temu as suggestions and I don't think I have to justify myself for wanting to avoid that on here.

Does it hurt to ask? I guess I'm not aware of machine shop etiquette; if the lathe is often busy after your hours or if the wear on bits would be significant. But it does sound really cool to make them if you could

@walnut Probably not and I'm basically 90% of the people who use the lathe, so it wouldn't be too much of an issue with that either.

The problem is they are ridiculously easy to make, and I'm an apprentice. It'd be incredibly cool to make my own spikey accessories but like, the thing itself is just almost boring to make.

On older conventional machines, cones are a pain because you have to tilt a part of the machine and getting it back to a 0°angle for normal usage is just hell, but we have a CNC lathe (it could use some more work so it'd probably be a benefit for it), and also a newer conventional lathe that's really just a wannabe CNC. Has a tool registry and everything, as well as software to make cones easily.

Since they're so easy to make there is absolutely nothing I could justify that with, even if I foot the material price, because that's basically wasted time. I gain absolutely no practice that's valuable to do over and over again 10+ times on the normal lathe, and for the CNC I could probably argue a little better but also I'd probably be having most of them be the same shape, which means I will only program the cone and then just watch it run again and again and again.

I also can't really just do it after hours since working alone in a workshop is generally forbidden due to needing a second person around to call for help if you injure yourself badly or have an emergency, and being an apprentice also means I generally cannot work with machines without a qualified instructor being present.

There is just legitimately nothing I can use to argue for it.

@walnut + final exam is about a year away meaning on the contrary there is absolutely more important things to focus on :')
