Hey, weird tech question number 1:

Is there an extant app (I am asking about both Android and iOS) where you can set it to monitor a website - say an RSS feed, but monitoring a static page is fine - and if that certain page changes, it sets off a loud alarm on the device?

It would need to poll the page at least every 10 min; every 5 would be better.

Edit: a lot of suggestions are "thus and such has notifications", which is very much what is not being asked. "Notifications" are wholly inadequate, being brief and quiet. The INTERESTING and challenging part of this request is "it sets off a LOUD ALARM on the device"

It has to be loud and alerting enough to get the user's attention while they are driving a car. Or, worse, a commercial vehicle with a loud diesel engine.

Which is also why it must run on a phone as an app.

Also a requirement: EXTANT. Not a custom solution. This is for thousands of other people to use, not me. And it MUST NOT be purpose built, for political reasons.

That is an odd question. I'm assuming you want to keep this on the device, but if not would a script that monitors the website on a desktop or server and sends a notification work? It looks like ntfy runs an instance you can use so you wouldn't need to set that up. You might be able to combine it with macrodroid to set off an alarm from the notification.

@walnut Nope, has to be on a phone, and has to be a commercial app available in the Apple and/or Play store.
